HOW DAC WAS BORN

Working with children or persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is challenging, frustrating sometimes disappointing, painful yet rewarding. It requires patience, dedication, hard work, and above all LOVE. Despite their handicaps, children/persons with ASD are people like us and they have the right to develop to their fullest potential, whatever that may be. It is for this reason why Davao Autism Center was born.

DAC is a non-stock, non-profit organization, which provides services for children with autism spectrum disorder. it was organized by a group of parents in 1997, who realized the importance of teaching and giving early intervention to a child/person with ASD to at least function normally in this world.

Today, the Foundation is located at Arayat St., Central Park Subd., Bangkal, Davao City, to a new site that our children with ASD a place they can call their own.

OUR VISION

The CENTER envision to be the key-player in the holistic approach in helping children with Autism to eventually integrate in the mainstream of society as self-reliant, productive, and socially accepted individuals.

OUR MISSION

Committed to help persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder reach a normal functioning level through early and adult intervention; to implement highly specialized quality training; and to collaborate with other organization and government agencies in the spirit of true advocacy for equal rights and opportunities.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide a year-round educational services to persons with autism.

2. To train and support parents on the care and management of children / persons with autism.

3. To educate the community about autism.

4. To advocate the rights of persons with autism and other allied disability.

5. To collaborate with other organizations that serves persons with autism.

6. To provide training in employment skills to adult with autism.

AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) is a developmental disability that severely hinders the way information is gathered and processed by the brain, causing problems in communication, learning and social behaviors.

 

People with autism needs help. To this reason we established this organization. But we cannot do it by ourselves. We need your hands to support the objectives of our Foundation.
